The project titled "Migration and Social Policies in Turkey and the UK" conducted by Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Fatih Aysan, the lecturer in ŞEHİR, and Prof. Ayşe Güveli from University of Essex, got the British Council Research Environment Links support.
The project titled "Migration and Social Policies in Turkey and the UK" conducted by Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Fatih Aysan, the lecturer in Sociology Department, and Prof. Ayşe Güveli, the lecturer in Sociology department of University of Essex, got the British Council Research Environment Links support.

Within the scope of the project, the research capacity of the İstanbul Şehir University Kemal Karpat Migration Researches Center will be increased by focusing on migrant welfare and social policies related to migrants. It also aims to develop long-term research between the two institutions on migration and social policies.

About the project:
Today, migration waves between countries bring new risks and opportunities for different welfare regimes. Turkey, which hosts about five million immigrants, is among the countries most affected by the wave of immigration. The project has two main objectives. The first goal is to provide general legal framework governing the relationship citizenship and social policy by comparing Turkey citizens and immigrants living in Turkey. The second objective is to improve the academic capacities of academics and graduate students working at Istanbul Şehir University on migration and related subjects.​
